6 Feet Under- Today, the literary world lost an icon: Harper Lee, author of the bestseller To Kill a Mockingbird, an account of racial injustice in the South in the 1930s. Lee crafted timeless characters like Atticus Finch, Scout, Boo Radley, and whoever that fucking annoying neighbor kid was. After winning the Pulitzer Prize for Literature the year after the book was published, Lee stepped back from the limelight, and then continued stepping back until she disappeared off the face of the earth. It was an ultimate mic drop; Lee the ultimate one-hit wonder, until she said, "Fuck it, I'm back," publishing Go Set a Watchman in 2015. The new book allowed readers to reunite with Scout and Atticus, set decades after the end of To Kill a Mockingbird. The book also allowed readers to feel awkward as fuck after realizing that despite the good deeds of Atticus in the 1930s, he was still a racist dude. Especially effected were those who had the misfortune of being named Atticus. So to Harper Lee, we bid you adieu and thank you for all that you have done for the literary community. We also thank you for making people with edgy names look bad as fuck.
