The Death of the "Like"

We are very "angry" about this update...

Silicon Valley, California- Remember yesterday, how simple it seems? Like a faint memory. When all there was on Facebook were the like, comment, and share buttons? Well like all simple things, unnecessary complexity has come to destroy them. Facebook has rolled out five new emojis expanding on the concept of the "like." The emojis represent: love, haha, wow, sad, and angry. Apparently this Facebook option has already been rolled out in countries around the world. The picture above comes from Ireland, who got all five emojis now available to US users as well as a "yay" emoji. What the fuck kind of world do we live in when someone can use a Roly Poly Oly-looking mug is an acceptable response to anything? Also why hasn't anyone made that Roly Poly-emoji connection before? "Haha" and "wow" aren't feelings at all. Hell "haha" is usually what someone texts you when they no longer want to speak to you but don't want to be mean about it. Facebook could have put jovial and astonishment respectively. But Facebook respects nothing, including the age-old like button, which now has to share the stage with these up-and-coming emoji responses. We at Hey! News stand in solidarity with the like button and will be boycotting the use of the five new emojis (mostly because we don't have a Facebook page).
